About

American Sweet Gum is famous for its striking feature - its shiny, star-like, green foliage that changes into yellow, red, orange and purple during Fall. It grows like a pyramid during its formative years, but will change into a ring-like canopy as it matures. You will need enough space for its roots to grow since it forms an important taproot that can resist high level of soil moisture. Aside from using its bark's resin to produce chewing gums, it also has medicinal benefits and can also be used in perfumes. It is also a typical source of plywood and hardwood. The American Sweet Gum can grow up to 75 feet high, with a width of 50 feet. It loves full sun and requires to be under the sun for at least 6 hours. It is tolerant to dry soil and doesn't need irrigation once established. It is low maintenance so it is easy to take care of.

Unlike Evergreens, which we ship year-round, Seasonal trees are shipped in early to mid-Spring and again in early Fall and are sent according to your local climate and this year's weather. This is done to be sure your tree is planted at the optimal time. Also, to be sure that your seedling arrives in a strong and healthy condition, we need to ship Seasonals when they are dormant in the Spring and Fall. Send us an email to info@thelivingurn.com or call us at (800) 495-7022 with questions or for more information regarding the delivery date of your tree.
